From their conception as “Guards-Port Security Guards” to the present day, they have always been present in the daily activity of the ports as well as in the front line of all emergency situations that have occurred in our facilities.
\nThe Port Police is subordinate to the Department of Operational Development and its members are considered agents of the authority of the Port Administration in the exercise of the Port Police powers contained in the State Ports and the Merchant Marine Act, without prejudice to the duty of collaboration with Law Enforcement Forces and Agencies if needed.[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.4.8″ min_height=”0px” hover_enabled=”0″]<\/p>\n

Its main duties are as follows:<\/h2>\n

\u2022 To control access to the port area and its facilities, as well as ensure the safety of employees, users, passengers and goods, collaborating with the Law Enforcement Forces and Agencies and the Administration of Justice.
\n\u2022 To perform activities related to opening, closing, guarding and monitoring facilities.
\n\u2022 To control road and transport safety within the port\u2019s service area.
\n\u2022 To control and supervise maritime and land operations and services, as well as perform ancillary services and handling of machinery or equipment assigned to the service.
\n\u2022 To monitor compliance with the provisions of the organisation\u2019s regulations.
\n\u2022 To control and generate, where appropriate, the administrative documentation necessary for port operation.
\n\u2022 To ensure compliance with the policies of security, data protection, quality and environment established in its activity area.
\n\u2022 To manage administrative documentation derived from the activity.
\n\u2022 To assist different departments in activities related to the content of its duties.
\n\u2022 To manage the material resources allocated, using all means at its disposal for the performance of duties.
\n\u2022 Any other activity related to the mission.
\nIn addition, the Port Police plays a fundamental role in the implementation of the Port Security Plans of Tenerife.<\/p>\n

The organisational structure and the Port Police mission are as follows:<\/h2>\n

\u2022 Port Police Officer-in-Charge: collaborates in the planning of the Port Police service in addition to organising and coordinating its provision by ensuring the compliance with the law within the service area and port facilities.
\n\u2022 Head of Service: coordinates and organises the port police service in his\/her shift and\/or geographical area to ensure compliance with the law within the service area and port facilities.
\nTeam Leader: collaborates in the coordination of the port police service in his\/her shift and\/or geographical area, coordinates a port police team (at least 4 officers and on the equivalence of 1 : 6 of the staff count) as well as carrying out the control and surveillance of the organisation\u2019s service area and maritime and land operations involving port traffic in accordance with the regulations in force and under effectiveness, efficiency and safety conditions.
